The wife and I have really been getting into Lord of the Rings Online. This game is a lot of fun, especially for huge Tolkien nerds like ourselves. For my wife the adventuring breaks down into a mix of both joyful glee to see the wonders of Middle-earth, like Bree, the Shire, etc and disappointment at seeing things like made up towns and events that do not entirely make a lot of sense. It is a good recreation for the Tolkien and computer geek and is a fresh distraction from the day to day grind.
We also saw Beowulf in 3D at the IMAX theater today, and that was pretty damn cool. The 3D theater that is, the movie on the other hand was quite a disappointment. Oh sure, it was a good action/adventure/fantasy flick, but it was definitely not the story of Beowulf. Too bad millions of Americans will now think that Beowulf carried on with the business with Grendel's mother, who I recall was nothing but a hideous, bloodthirsty monster. And the dragon scene was way way WAY off. Oh well, maybe it will inspire some to go read the "original" (as original as we have anyways) poem of the epic of Beowulf.
