Comic Con Aftermath

Post by Unknown |

Epilogue - Aftermath

We are back in Houston* and took an extra day off work** to recoup. I took the three 'prize' art we got from the event and went ahead and put them in frames for hanging, later. I also snapped a few shots of the various loot scattered about the house. I'll probably add a few more when we get our FedEx box of the stuff that we couldn't fit on the plane and had to ship!

Comic Con Day Four

Post by Unknown |

Saturday - Day Four

Today we camped out in Ballroom 20 for the entire time in order to be able to watch the Fringe and True Blood panels. So most of the photos are from the various panels we saw, others are of the crowd and more costumes. Good day all in all! There are also some videos of the True Blood panel over on http://www.qik.com/jeroddunn that are unedited so far, but available for your viewing pleasure.

Comic Con Day Three

Post by Unknown |

Friday - Day Three

Day three had some disappointment because Amber missed her panel that she really wanted to see, highlight of the trip sort of thing. She got over it once she started playing Dragon Age: Origins over at the EA Gamers Lounge! Need to go ahead and make a second pre-order now, she's hooked! More costumes, hopefully tomorrow there will be even more!

Comic Con Day Two

Thursday - Day Two

Daaaay TWO! Alright, we were a little more prepared this time, but apparently the lines to get into the panels are very, very long. Missed a couple because the line snaked all the way outside, sheesh!

Wednesday - Day One

Wednesday was preview night for everyone that had a 4 day pass. Amber and I tore it up for a bit and checked out the Exhibit Floor with all the vendor booths. Pretty awesome stuff out there! Check out our first set of photos below! I'll try to post the photos that Amber has taken later!

July 4th Fireworks

Post by Unknown |

Last year was my first attempt to shoot fireworks and it turned out a little... "first time" like. This year I had an even better opportunity! Great! Except one minor detail, I forgot my tripod in Houston and we were watching the fireworks in San Antonio, DOH! No problem, this year I had a remote and a much better lens to shoot with and I wasn't going to let something like no tripod get me down. Nothing a folded up towel and beer cooler can't fix! I also got a chance to get some precious shots of my nieces, double points! Photos are below, enjoy!

Phone Photo Extravaganza!

Post by Unknown |

I recently installed a program called Shozu on my E71. What it allows me to do is automatically upload any pictures I take on my mobile to my Phone Picasa photo gallery. The amount of pictures I've taken with my phone since that time has at least doubled in frequency, as I now have an easy way of getting them to the world, where previously they would just sit on my phone.

Some pretty funny shots in there so if you are interested go take a peak. If you aren't, well, then, the hell with you.

I'm simply ANNOUNCING that I plan to add a running list of applications and utilities that I frequently use myself and would like to share. It is simply too late to get started on all this right now, but hopefully I will have something soon!

In the mean time, enjoy some pictures of fireworks!

The wife and I went on a camping trip with my sister and her husband to Colorado Bend State Park in Texas. It has natural springs that flow down into the Colorado river, they are very cool and crystal clear. Very fun park to visit. Picture slideshow after the jump!

A record 16-day mission to the International Space Station and deliver the first section of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency's (JAXA) Kibo laboratory and the Canadian Space Agency's (CSA) two-armed robotic system, Dextre (SPDM).

We watched the launch from the Banana River viewing area, and got some pretty cool shots of both the Saturn V/Apollo facility and the launch, of course! Check them out.

Cheap, Portable Image Stabilizer

Post by Unknown |

Click the post title for full article

MAKE Magazine has posted a really really awesome guide on making a super cheap image stabilizer for cameras, both of the picture and video variety. I plan on making one, but will need to go searching for materials. I will post some examples before and after later on; in the meantime fly over to the article here or hit the article title to watch the video tutorial.

More Megapixels = Better?

Post by Unknown |

Here is a brief, but informative article on the myth behind digital camera megapixels. Clearly not the end all be all of digital photography. I guess one should keep in mind when it comes to cameras, quality is greater than quantity.
